Todd Barton and Bruce Bayard, performing as the experimental music duo, Control Voltage Therapy, bring their quadraphonic system into the Schneider Museum of Art for an evening of improvisational sound, in response to the exhibit, Breaking Pattern.
The instruments consist of two Buchla Easels, which are electronic synthesizers. Barton and Bayard will be playing a composition that is the aural equivalent of the images installed in the exhibit. By setting sequences that are of slightly different tempos, patterns drift apart and come back together creating ever-changing poly rhythms.
[NOTE: our quad system might be less than 100% for this performance, but the patterns will be well worth the listen]
