My most recent regular activity is chasing trains. We live right on the tracks and trains come by twice a day, five days a week. In the morning, there are often exquisite box cars with major graffiti, or sometimes with doors open, showing a beautiful patina of scratches and rust on the inside.
This series is of groups of five photos I take as I run along side the train, trying to capture abstractions and detail. The pattern is to find 5 consecutive images that work well together in panorama, then modulate them, heightening their painterly qualities, and of course, adding my own visual language.
Here, then, is the series in progress. The first state is simply the five chosen photos. State Two (if there is one) is after working on it, possibly coming to a finished piece, but final determination of that will be made as the series progresses.
