SUMMARY:2x4 images and poems
DESCRIPTION:Four local visual artists are teaming up with four area poets to create an exhibition of work\, each inspired by the other. The creative process pairs artist and poet\, each artist supplying an image to a poet for poetic interpretation\, and each poet supplying their artist partner with a poem for visual interpretation. The exhibit includes two sets of poems/artwork from each of the four pairs. \nReadings will be at 6:30 and 7:30. The exhibit is also on view Saturday\, December 10 from 10am–5pm. \nParticipating artists and poets: \nBruce Bayard works in photo-based digital image collage.\nAnn DiSalvo is more widely known for her figurative work in pastel and charcoal\, but has been writing poetry consistently most of her life.\nPeter Van Fleet creates abstract paintings on wood panels.\nMarisa Petersen’s poetry uses a story-telling style alive with images and insights gleaned from her garden\, her grandchild\, and fellow residents of the global village.\nDaniel Verner presents a photographic response to his daughter Kayli’s poem and a free-standing assemblage sculpture of found objects.\nKayli Gordon is an aspiring novelist\, working on her first book. She is part of two writers groups in Ashland and enjoys participating in poetry slams and comedy nights.\nDavid Winston creates images of stillness in nature and surprises in the ordinary.\nStephanie Nead seeks and expresses the Sacred through her poetry. \nPaschal Winery will be pouring for the Friday reading.

DESCRIPTION:The premiere of NUDE by Greeley Wells\, a short film in which ten artists and models discuss their relationship with the nude in their artwork. \nNUDE is my most recent film\, a short film of 17 minutes. It is a rich exploration of the human form in art. Ten Ashland artists including models discuss their art processes\, the muse\, and some of the problems society seems to have with the nude. The artist’s way of seeing the human form is truthful\, concentrated\, without stigma\, and suggests that deep clear seeing like this could be a solution to some other problems in our world.  The score\, written by Jeff Pevar\, adds to the humanity and beauty of the NUDE. \n—Greeley Wells\, Filmmaker

DESCRIPTION:(image is BACK side of collaboration) \nFour artists who meet weekly over coffee\, decided to help each other push beyond their perceived boundaries and limitations in their art-making process. DESCRIPTION:Todd Barton and Bruce Bayard\, performing as the experimental music duo\, Control Voltage Therapy\, bring their quadraphonic system into the Schneider Museum of Art for an evening of improvisational sound\, in response to the exhibit\, Breaking Pattern. \nThe instruments consist of two Buchla Easels\, which are electronic synthesizers. Barton and Bayard will be playing a composition that is the aural equivalent of the images installed in the exhibit. By setting sequences that are of slightly different tempos\, patterns drift apart and come back together creating ever-changing poly rhythms. \n[NOTE: our quad system might be less than 100% for this performance\, but the patterns will be well worth the listen]
