SUMMARY:Cascadia at the Dancespace
DESCRIPTION:My latest audio visual performance features guest artists Todd Barton and Sean Julian. An audio soundtrack will be improvised by the three of us\, each on the Buchla Electronic Music Easel. The visual projection is a collage of video clips\, stills\, words and animations. \nOnline tickets sales have ended. Tickets available at the door. \nTodd Barton is obsessed with sound…continually exploring new sonic universes and sharing his discoveries from the worlds of analog modular instruments: especially Buchla\, Serge and Hordijk. After decades composing music for theater\, radio\, orchestras\, string quartets\, and film he has devoted the past seven years to sculpting electrons with solo performances on the Buchla Music Easel both here in the States and throughout Europe. He also teaches\, guides and consults through his Skype/FaceTime tutoring.\nFollow the sound; Feel the electrons; Listen! \nSean Julian is an audio visual explorer\, armed with a three mega pixel video camera\, a microphone and a Buchla Music Easel. His mission is to use moving images and sound as a language to express how he sees life. He performs very rarely\, but has been seen on rooftops in Brooklyn projecting 35mm slides and improvising on his Music Easel deep in the forest to no one except the trees. Currently he is working on a new solo album and collaborating with correspondents from around the world on obsolete technology.

SUMMARY:First Friday Concert
DESCRIPTION:Todd Barton and Bruce Bayard\, performing as the experimental music duo\, Control Voltage Therapy\, bring their quadraphonic system into the Schneider Museum of Art for an evening of improvisational sound\, in response to the exhibit\, Breaking Pattern. \nThe instruments consist of two Buchla Easels\, which are electronic synthesizers. Barton and Bayard will be playing a composition that is the aural equivalent of the images installed in the exhibit. By setting sequences that are of slightly different tempos\, patterns drift apart and come back together creating ever-changing poly rhythms. \n[NOTE: our quad system might be less than 100% for this performance\, but the patterns will be well worth the listen]
